TADI ABEDJE
About Me
Hello my name is Tadi Abedje and I am a multimedia journalist with experience in radio, print, web and social media.

I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. region. Journalism has been my No. 1 passion of mine since I was a kid and is blessed to be around people telling their stories and sharing it to the world.

Currently, I'm a freelance digital writer/editor at WTOP News. I write and copyedit news articles, write engaging headlines to accompany articles, write social media posts, create photo galleries, send out breaking news emails and app alerts, monitor local/national news outlets, social media and email to make sure WTOP is on top of the most relevant and breaking news stories of the day, and manage the WTOP.com homepage using news judgement and analytics to guide decisions.

Before that, I was a digital content producer at the Black News Channel. At BNC, I wrote feature stories highlighting the perspective of Black communities and executed the production of audience-first, engaging storytelling through digital articles, videos, photo galleries, social media, push alerts, live streams and interactive elements.

Previously, I had sports reporter roles at The Current Newspapers and The Northwest Courier, two local newspapers in Washington, D.C. During my stint as a reporter, I covered high school sporting events, wrote feature stories about games, athletes and coaches, pitched story ideas to editors, and produced web, digital, and print content.

I also had three summer sports reporting internships at the Voice of America (VOA). Additionally, I directed a radio show in the Nigerian (Hausa) Service at VOA.

As a writer and reporter, I understand the media landscape and also developed skills such as storytelling, editing, research, interviewing and cultivating relationships with sources, audio, radio and video production and the ability to connect with audiences through various mediums.

I graduated from George Mason University in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, with a concentration in journalism. I'm a huge sports junkie as I eat and breathe sports, such as basketball and football.
